How it works
 
Our Veggie Subscription is a type of CSA, which stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you participate in a CSA or Veggie Subscription, you are supporting our farm by investing in our crops for the season. You pay the farmer up front, and in exchange receive a weekly box of our organic vegetables, harvested freshly for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I start getting my veggies?

For the 2024 season, we plan to start mid-June. This will continue all summer for a total of 18 weeks, ending some time in October.
Do I get to pick what’s in my box?
For the 2024 season, we are delivering a standard box of pre-selected vegetables. This will consist of 8-10 items per week. An example of one item is 2 pounds of carrots. We hope to offer add-on options over the course of the season, but initially you will get what we have pre-selected for you.
What is going to be in my box each week?
You will receive 8-10 varieties of vegetables per week. The contents each week will vary based on what's in season and what Mother Nature decides to send our way. We have incorporated lots of diversity and flexibility into our crop plan to provide you with variety and abundance every week, but of course we never have 100% control over Mother Nature and some weeks may be affected by unusual weather events. Is everything in my box certified organic?
We are a certified organic grower and our plan is to grow everything that we put into the farm share. In order to mitigate risk, we have made plans to have the option of "buying in" veggies from other certified organic growers. Should we have to include any of these items in your bin, we will notify you in our weekly email.
What happens if I miss my pickup/delivery?

If you are going to be on vacation, you can switch your delivery address or pickup site and have a neighbour or friend collect your box for you. You must give us 5 days notice so we can make the necessary changes to our delivery plans. You can also choose to have your box donated to the food bank.

If at the last minute you are not going to make it to a pickup, please text us as soon as possible so we can make arrangements to take your bin back to the farm, or leave it with another member for you to collect later. If you fail to contact us we will arrange to donate your bin to a local food bank. We do not provide credit if you miss a pickup.
What is your cancellation policy?

We offer a money-back guarantee. If you are dissatisfied with your subscription and wish to cancel, or if you have to move out of the area and cannot continue your share, please let us know as soon as you can. We will offer a refund on a pro-rated basis.

How do I pay?

You can pay via credit card at checkout or by selecting the e-transfer (email money transfer via online banking) or by cheque.

If you pay via credit card, you will be charged the full amount up front. If you would prefer to leave a 50% deposit, you can pay via e-transfer or cheque. After you complete your order, we will send you an invoice and you can e-transfer us the 50% upon receipt of the invoice. The other 50% will be due by June 1, 2024.

E-transfer payments can be sent to coldspringsorganics@gmail.com

If you don't use online banking, you can also pay your invoice via cheque. Cheques can be made out to Cold Springs Organics and mailed to 595 Stonebridge Lane, Pickering, ON, L1W 3A6.
What do I do with all these veggies??

Our weekly newsletter will advise you of what veggies you can expect for the week, including how to store them, common uses for them and whether you can freeze them. We will also provide weekly recipes for healthy, delicious meals that you can prepare with some of the contents of the box.

Part of your membership will include access to our private Facebook group. Here, we share a weekly unboxing video created by our Holistic Nutritionist who advises on what to eat first, how to store items in the fridge and what the nutritional benefits are of the produce. You'll also see and be able to share recipes and ideas with other members of the farm.
